1. Booking and Payment

Where can I book bus tickets?

You can buy bus tickets on this website only!

How can I pay?

At the moment we only accept payments made by credit card and bank transfer. The payment deadline is 5 business days.

How do I get my tickets?

Very simple: just log in to your user area (“My Account”) and download your tickets from the applicable booking under “Tickets.” The download is often activated at the earliest one week before departure. We only use e-tickets and do not send tickets by mail or email.

Can I cancel my booking?

Yes, you can log in to the user area and independently:

1) Cancel unpaid bookings.

2) Cancel paid bookings for a refund or voucher.

1) Unpaid tickets can be canceled free of charge at any time, as long as no payment has been requested from you.

2) Tickets that have already been paid for can usually be canceled up to 4 weeks before departure for a fee. The fee depends on the event and any adjustments to the cancellation period, but is usually €10 per cancellation.
No monetary refunds will be given for bookings made after the cancellation period has expired.

An alternative to “cancellation for a refund” is “cancellation for a voucher.” This is possible for all bookings and up to 14 days before the event. In the case of cancellation for a voucher, the cancellation fee does not apply.

PLEASE NOTE: Cancellations cannot be reversed!

Can I change my booking?

Rebookings are not possible. However, the booking can be converted into a voucher by canceling it, which can then be redeemed for a new booking.

Can I cancel only a part of my booking?

Yes, of course! To do this, go to the relevant booking in your user area. Under “Tickets,” you will see the individual tickets, including any add-ons booked for the passengers you have booked. Then simply select the ticket for the respective passenger and click on the “Cancel ticket” field. The ticket and corresponding add-ons are then canceled.

The general cancellation rules apply here (see “Can I cancel my booking?”).

Do I have to print my tickets?

Although it is not mandatory to print out your tickets, you must be able to present a valid ticket. This can be quite difficult if, for example, your cell phone has run out of battery or you have lost it. That's why we recommend printing out a copy of your boarding pass as a backup in case of such situations! Please note, however, that once you have downloaded your tickets, you can no longer make any changes to your booking!

Can I transfer the tickets over to someone else?

Yes. But please make sure you do this before the festival kicks off. You can change not only the name but also the email address of the ticket owner in your user area under "Show booking" -> "Tickets".

Please note: after downloading the ticket, any changes to the ticket are no longer possible!

My payment failed— what should I do now?

No problem - your booking will remain valid for 30 minutes after your first payment attempt. You can initiate a new payment attempt via your user area. If you do not make a payment, your booking will be automatically canceled after 30 minutes.

What are add-ons?

In addition to regular bus tickets, we now offer more options to make your festival experience as easy as possible. In addition to extra luggage, in many cases you can now also purchase your festival ticket directly from us, and soon even more.

What does XXL luggage mean and how can I book it?

On many trips, there is a limited number of XXL luggage spaces available.

If your trip allows XXL luggage, you can book it as a paid add-on to your ticket. This allows you to take additional, slightly larger pieces of luggage with you, such as a second suitcase/backpack, a large tent, a pavilion, or a foldable trolley.
Please note that XXL luggage is not intended for oversized or totally absurd items. Bicycles (including folding bikes) are not permitted! If you are completely unsure whether your XXL luggage is permitted, please contact our support team.

An important tip: It's more environmentally friendly and practical to buy your cases of drinks directly at a supermarket at your point of arrival instead of transporting them over long distances on the bus. This way, you'll not only travel more relaxed, but also more sustainably.

Can I add XXL luggage later?

As of now, You cannot simply book XXL baggage as a separate add-on at a later date.
However, you can cancel your existing ticket and book a new ticket with the XXL baggage add-on. Please bear in mind the general cancellation conditions and deadlines.

My booking is shown as paid - why can I still not cancel?

If you have paid via "Sofortüberweisung", it usually takes 1-3 working days for the payment to come through. Only then can you cancel. So it's best to wait a few more days and then try again. If you still have problems, please contact our support.

2. Bus rides and busses itself

Where is the meeting point for my trip?

The meeting points for all trips will be published on our website in time before your departure. They are almost always located directly in the respective cities, often at the ZOB, train station or other transport hubs and are usually super accessible by public transport.

What kind of busses are to be expected?

For all bus rides, but especially for those which take longer than 3 hours, we are eager to provide you with a bus that has a board toilet. In case we could not get hold of a bus that is equipped with a toilet on board we will make a toilet break after round about 1,5 hours.

In rare occasions it might be the case, that either the toilet on board is out of service or the bus doesn’t have any toilet at all. This then often is due to a defect or occurs because one bus broke and we needed to hire another bus urgently and couldn’t make sure that every demand is fulfilled.

But please also keep that if no toilet is to be found on board you cannot ask for a compensation automatically. Since this is not part of the contract of carriage to reimburse in such cases.

What happens if the bus is delayed or cancelled?

We usually plan with generous buffers, so delays in departure are extremely rare. However, there are so many external influences on the bus services that delays can occur. We ask you to remain calm in the event of a delay—we keep a constant eye on the situation and try to keep delays to a minimum. Due to the large number of trips we offer, we can often solve the problem quickly by making small changes to the schedule and swapping times.

It is also possible that a bus might be canceled at short notice. In such cases, we will immediately arrange for a replacement. In some cases, this may result in delays.

Please note that there is no entitlement to compensation for delays. We also accept no liability for connecting journeys with other means of transport or similar.

How long does the ride take?

Until the bus arrived at the destination.

We deliberately do not provide any information about arrival times because traffic is completely unpredictable. A rule of thumb is 80 minutes of driving time per 100 km. Breaks, traffic jams, and slow-moving traffic come on top of that.

How much luggage am I allowed to take with me?

Regular luggage:

  • 1 suitcase or backpack

  • 1 tent (groups are allowed to take a bigger tent instead)

  • 1 small hand baggage

  • Sleeping mat and sleeping bag

  • Not allowed for regular luggage: pavilions, bicycles, hand carts, barrows, beer boxes/ crates, other bulky items

If you want to bring anything else, please read our information about the XXL luggage option (see "What does XXL luggage mean and how can I book it?").

As a general rule, the bus can only carry as much as it can fit and regular luggage (as described above) has priority. So in the worst case scenario, your "extraordinary" luggage will have to be left behind on site.

What happens if I am late?

… then you can only hope for the bus to be delayed as well. Unfortunately we cannot ask our bus drivers to wait for you.

When do I need to show up at the meeting point?

15 minutes before departure. Please make sure to be there right on time because otherwise your seat will get newly allocated and we cannot guarantee that you can come with us.

Do I have to wear a mask during the ride?

We have no legal basis for enforcing a mask requirement during the journey and are therefore dependent on the solidarity of all passengers. We want to protect people from risk groups and therefore strongly recommend wearing a mask during the journey and being mindful of your seat neighbours!

3. All about the vouchers

Can I use my voucher more than once?

The voucher loses its value after being used once. So plan carefully how to redeem your voucher.

I paid my booking partly with a voucher. How does a refund work in this case?

If you paid your booking partially with a voucher, the voucher amount will always be taken into account first when issuing a refund. This means that the portion you paid with the voucher will be credited back to you as a new voucher. Only the portion you paid additionally (e.g., by bank transfer or card) can be refunded as a cash amount minus the cancellation fee.

Can I have my voucher refunded for money?

The voucher value cannot be refunded in payment.

How long is my voucher valid?

As a rule, the voucher is valid until the end of the respective year.

In the event of cancellation of a booking paid for with a voucher, the newly generated voucher will have the same expiry date as the original voucher, but ONLY if the amount refunded as a voucher does not exceed the original voucher amount.

If the voucher amount to be refunded is higher than the outstanding amount of the original voucher, the new voucher will be valid for one year from the date of issue.

4. About BASSLINER

How long does Bassliner already exist?

Since 2006 - almost 20 years!

Can I be part of this?

We are not currently looking for staff for our core crew, which is responsible for preparing everything throughout the year. However, we are always looking for volunteers to supervise trips outside of Berlin or support us the festival directly. Please feel free to contact us by email.

How does your organization work?

At the very beginning we have been organized as an association. But nowadays we are operating as a company (corporation).

What happens with profits?

The way we calculate does not allow us to make a huge profit anyways. Our margin is approx. 10-15% by full capacity and before deducting the costs. Most of the profits we make can be seen as a cross-subsidy for rides that were low on bookings. With the rest we are covering our costs which do not only occur during the festival season, but also throughout the whole year. Office, staff, server and so on. In some years we have donated our profits, since 2016 though we basically used every penny in order to optimize our project. Which basically is a benefit for our passengers.

Are you political?

Yes. For us, this has always been a political matter. Our services primarily serve our direct network of alternative, left-wing cultural events. We also regularly use our expertise to assist progressive political groups or associations with passenger logistics for large events.

I want BASSLINER for my festival - What do I do?

Get in touch with us! The earlier the better- the more info the better. Even though we are more or less ‚booked‘ during the festival summer, we still will take time to check whether we can somehow integrate your festival as well. So, if your event/ festival sounds pleasant to us and to our passengers, we will say ‚yes‘.

Give us your email address and be the first to hear from us.
